The Data Computing and Applications Major is a newly established major, developed in response to the national "New Engineering Disciplines" initiative and the evolving demands of digital development. It is an applied science discipline in which mathematics and statistics provide the theoretical foundation, computer science serves as the implementation tool, and data science constitutes the core application area. The major emphasises the systematic integration of mathematical modelling, data analysis and computational implementation, and demands particularly strong logical thinking and mathematical ability. It is ideally suited to students with an interest in data analysis, statistical modelling, algorithms and scientific computing, who aspire to pursue careers in data science, financial analysis, fundamental research in artificial intelligence or computational modelling.

The major is supported by the distinguished academic strength of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Hebei Normal University. The "Mathematics and Data Science Teaching Team" has been selected as one of the fourth cohort of National University Huang Danian-style Teacher Teams, and benefits from high-calibre national research platforms, including the Hebei Base of the National Tianyuan Mathematics Central China Centre.
